Objections from The Green Party and Isle of Man Friends of the Earth centred on climate-change targets, and the need for increasing use of renewable energy sources, and decreased use of fossil fuels, as well as possible damage and degradation to surrounding ecosystems on the seabed.  The Isle of Man Government remain committed to Tynwald's climate targets, which include an 80% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
